WHEELS: All-steel version offered by Rubberless Tire

LEDUC, Alta. – The all-steel wheel (ASW), available from Rubberless Tire Co. (Canada),  is an engineered steel wheel which uses a built-in air cylinder based shock absorbing suspension mechanism that provides up to two times the suspension deflection, two times the load bearing capacity and five times the impact resistance of the rubber tire it replaces.

All-steel wheels can last up to 20 years.

Replace rubber tires with ASW, and you will never need to buy and replace tires again. ASWs are designed and manufactured to last as long as the vehicles, trucks and loaders you depend on (roughly 87,000 hours). ASWs have a stronger road grip and more traction than tubed tires, and they do not go flat. They are laterally stiff, greatly reducing chassis distortion. Segments ship in highway containers to be bolted together at the mine – a saving of 60% to 80% in shipping costs, according to Rubberless Tire. And AWS align and balance automatically.

Bolt-on, flexible, weathering steel treads are individually replaceable when damaged or in need of resurfacing. The treads are available in four configurations of either polyurethane extrusion or Corten weathering steel.

Costing as little as twice the price of a standard tire with a far greater lifespan, the rugged all-steel wheels are designed to increase efficiency while reducing downtime and lifetime costs. They are available in sizes from R15 to R63.
