VANCOUVER – Four years ago, Goldcorp launched Creating Choices – the world's first company-wide development and mentorship program for women in mining. It encourages women's career development in the traditionally male dominated industry.
Creating Choices is available at every Goldcorp operations and at its corporate and regional offices in eight countries throughout the Americas. More than 1,200 women have graduated. They are welders, truck drivers, forewomen, IT analysts, executives, and more.
With the core program successful, Goldcorp is now launching Growing Choices, a four module course that teaches women how to brand themselves as leaders, balance work and life commitments, plan for career success using SMART goals, and build effective relationships and networks. The first Growing Choices course was offered last month at the Porcupine gold mine near Timmins, ON.
