SASKATCHEWAN – Foran Mining of Vancouver continues to drill at its Balsam property 65 km west of Flin Flon, MB, hoping to outline a potential new volcanogenic massive sulphide camp. Of interest is the Thunder zone where a single drill hole last year returned high grade VMS mineralization – 4.1% Cu and 0.43 g/t Au over 3.66 metres, including 10.5% Cu and 0.70 g/t Au over 1.1 metre.
The most recent assays from the Thunder zone include 5.0% Cu, 2.1% Zn, 0.84 g/t Au and 41 g/t Ag over 2.63 metres in hole BA-15-80 within a 12-metre thick sulphide rich interval. Hole BA-15-83(1) returned 2.0% Cu, 3.5% Zn, 0.37 g/t Au and 12.00 g/t Ag over 3.46 metres and another intersection of 0.7% Cu, 7.2% Zn, 0.29 g/t Au and 43.00 g/t Ag. The hole was drilled in a 15-metre thick sulphide rich interval. The Thunder zone is thickening with down plunge to the northwest and is open both to the northwest and to the southeast.
Foran president and CEO Patrick Soares commented, "Based on Foran's exploration and discoveries of VMS mineralization around McIlvenna Bay, we believe the Hanson Lake Camp will develop into a long lived mining camp similar to Flin Flon and Snow Lake."
