NOVA SCOTIA - The new owner of the Scotia zinc-lead mine 50 km east of Halifax, Vancouver-based Selwyn Resources, has released new resource numbers for the property.

The Main zone, with a 1.50% ZnEq cutoff, contains measured and indicated resources of 2.89 million tonnes grading 4.20% Zn and 1.90% Pb. It also has an inferred resource of 1.57 million tonnes grading 3.30% Zn and 1.30% Pb.

The Northeast zone, where a 2.00% ZnEq cutoff was used, has an indicated resource of 1.58 million tonnes grading 4.21% Zn and 2.22% Pb, plus an inferred resource of 1.88 million tonnes at 2.70% Zn and 1.86% Pb.5

Selwyn acquired the Scotia mine with its purchase of ScoZinc, a subsidiary of Acadian Mining Corp., earlier this year. The mine, known as the Gays River mine, was originally developed as a high grade underground operation in 1979, but water inflows forced its closure in 1981. It was mined again in 1989 the mine was dewatered and operational again until 1991. Acadian operated it from mid-2007 until early 2009.

Selwyn has plans to restart production next year from an open pit. Visit www.SelwynResources.com for more information.
