NORTHERN ONTARIO - Toronto-based FIRST NICKEL has completed its 2005 diamond drilling program at the Lockerby East zone near Sudbury. The company reports it intersected significant footwall-hosted massive sulphide veins. In particular, one hole cut 5.60% Ni, 1.26% Cu and 0.10% Co over a length of 10.0 metres.

First Nickel notes that footwall-hosted nickel-copper sulphide mineralization was observed in five of the first 16 holes logged, which it interprets as indicating that sulphide mineralization has migrated into the footwall granites from the base of the Sudbury Igneous Complex (SIC). The majority of the previously identified nickel sulphide mineralization within the Lockerby East deposit has been associated at the base of the SIC contact.

The orientation and lateral extent of the footwall mineralization is yet to be defined; follow-up diamond drilling is planned for the first quarter of 2006. All assays received from the 2005 drill program are posted at www.FirstNickel.com.
