BRITISH COLUMBIABCGold Corp. of Vancouver has received a permit from the BC Ministry of Environment to dewater the former Engineer mine. The lowest three of the original eight underground levels remain to be dewatered. BCGold then plans to conduct geological mapping, bulk sampling and conduct a drill program on parts of the Engineer and Double Decker veins.

Gold was discovered on the Engineer property near Atlin in 1899, but the bulk of the mining was done from 1925 to 1927. The property is credited with producing a total of 18,058 oz of gold and 8,950 oz of silver. Historic sampling records indicate a 24.7-metre section that averaged 38.03 g/t Au, containing a 10.0-metre interval that averaged 84.35 g/t Au across the width of the drift. Reportedly, only 10.0 metres was mined above this interval on the 8th level before the mine closed in the early 1930s, primarily due to water inflow that overwhelmed an antiquated mine water pumping system.

BCGold has an option to earn a 100% interest in the Engineer property. The company believes the mine could be reopened as a small-scale, high-grade producer.
