SouthernEra Resources Ltd. has named Patrick C. Evans as president and CEO, and William Machiel (“Mike”) Eksteen as senior vice-president and COO. Chris Jennings will remain the chairman. Evans was most recently a senior executive with Placer Dome in South Africa. Eksteen is a mining engineer with 35 years of operating experience in a range of commodities. He had 33 years of continuous service within the Gold Fields group of companies, including 13 as COO (mine general manager).

Ellsworth E. Dickson has been appointed as vice-president of corporate communications for Island Mountain Gold Mines Ltd. A graduate of Haileybury School of Mines, Dickson has been editor of the George Cross News Letter for the past 10 years. The company is earning a 50% interest in 63 Crown granted mineral claims and fractions comprising 2,100 acres on Island Mountain in the Cariboo gold camp, central British Columbia.

Chris Bradbrook has joined Toronto-based Goldcorp Inc. in the newly created role of vice-president of corporate development. His responsibilities will be identifying and developing new growth opportunities for the company, and increasing investor awareness. Bradbrook’s work experience includes 15 years working in the mining industry plus six years as a mining analyst.

Rubicon Minerals Corp. of Vancouver has announced that J. Garfield MacVeigh will become chairman of the company. His former post as president and CEO will be filled by David W. Adamson, currently the vice-president of exploration. Michael Gray, formerly exploration manager, will assume the role of vice-president of exploration. MacVeigh, Adamson and Gray were founding members of Rubicon.
