In the article “The odds of finding diamonds in Ontario” (CMJ January 2002), the section about Band-Ore Resources Ltd. mentions a quarter-carat diamond recovered from a 406-kg sample. The quarter-carat diamond was actually recovered from a 12-tonne exploration sample from area E.

The “PDAC Showguide” (p.19, CMJ February/March 2002) indicates that the Diavik diamond project is a joint venture between Kennecott and Aber Resources. This is not correct. The project is an unincorporated joint venture between Diavik Diamond Mines Inc. (60%) and Aber Diamond Mines Ltd. (40%), both headquartered in Yellowknife. Diavik Diamond Mines Inc. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Rio Tinto plc. of London, U.K., and Aber Diamond Mines Ltd. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Aber Diamond Corp. of Toronto. Kennecott is also owned by Rio Tinto plc. and is actually a sister company to Diavik Diamond Mines.
