SUMMARY:Innovation competition to secure tunnels in underground mining
DESCRIPTION:Ennomotive\, the leading open innovation platform for engineering challenges\, just launched a competition for the effective pre-installation of a metallic mesh inside small mine tunnels. \nThe construction and reinforcement of tunnels in mining consist of several activities\, including unrolling and placing a metallic mesh on the\ntunnel walls using big-sized machinery. However\, in “Block or Panel Caving” mining projects\nwith tunnels smaller than 4m x 4m\, standard machinery does not have enough space to\noperate. \nThe goal of this competition is to find solutions to unroll and place the mesh on the tunnel walls before the workers enter that section. \nThis online competition is open worldwide to any professional\, student or Academia with Mechanical Engineering backgrounds and/or knowledge that want to propose a solution. \nEnnomotive offers US$14\,000 in prizes for the best solutions of this challenge. \nInterested participants should sign up at www.Ennomotive.com/innovation-challenge-tunnel-construction/ \n and submit their solutions before Oct. 1\, 2018 .
