SUMMARY:Project Management for Mining
DESCRIPTION:Project Management for Mining is a 3-day practical course focused on the successful delivery of minerals industry projects. Primary emphasis is placed on major greenfield mine development\, but the information presented is fully applicable to brownfield project undertakings. \nThe course teaches project management best practices\, and how they are woven together from initial mineral resource identification on through the project stages of opportunity\, viability\, planning\, execution\, and completion\, to delivery of a sustainable operating property. The course focuses on the key steps in each stage that must be properly executed to achieve project success. \nParticipants will be assigned to work on real issues faced by actual project managers in the field. Interactive case study discussions leading to valid solutions and practical usable tools are fundamental elements of the course. \nThis course is supported throughout by the Project Management for Mining handbook (included in each registration). This book\, written by the two course directors and published by SME in 2015\, comprehensively details the best practices for project delivery from across the full breadth of the minerals industry. The knowledge and guidance provided by the book applies to mine owners from junior minerals organizations to large mining companies\, as well as to engineers\, constructors\, technical advisors and societal consultants. The wisdom imparted both by the course authors and from within the handbook provides a project management road map that significantly increases the likelihood of successful project delivery for course participants.
