SUMMARY:High-Speed Imaging Methods for Research and Experimentation
DESCRIPTION:World leaders in digital high-speed imaging and explosive education\, Vision Research and the Colorado School of Mines\, have announced a collaboration to develop a university-level short course on high-speed imaging’s wide range of applications with a focus on experimentation with explosives and ballistic applications. \nThe short course is a carefully structured introduction to main topics in field of explosive engineering and how to best use digital high-speed imaging when conducting experiments or research for military or civilian applications. Both the fundamentals theory and practical training will be conducted at Colorado School of Mines in Explosive Research Laboratory at Idaho Springs. \nA wide range of material will be covered including: detonation and shock wave physics\, selection of explosives\, an introduction to high-speed imaging\, scaling experiments for high-speed imaging\, lighting and selecting lenses for the best results\, triggering strategies\, analysis of high-speed imagery\, and more. Each topic will be presented by internationally renowned experts in their respective fields\, and will address an audience spanning a wide range of scientific backgrounds. \nStudents will be given the opportunity to work one-on-one with instructors in special evening sections designed to participants work out solutions to their specific set of requirements for high-speed imagery. \nThe course is an intensive 4-day\, hands-on workshop designed to teach engineers\, scientists\, and students the engineering tools needed to understand\, analyze\, and solve a broad range of dynamic problems and design applications. It also may also be of interest to crime and accident investigators\, or anyone concerned with the regulatory and environmental issues involved in use of high-speed imaging and motion analysis in the fields.

SUMMARY:Understanding the Basic Mineral Processing Flowsheet Short Course
DESCRIPTION:The purpose of this short course is to provide attendees who are new to the topic with an overall understanding of a typical copper/gold mineral processing circuit from crushing and grinding to concentration by flotation. \nThe material is presented in a manner that starts with the simple process flow\, then goes to more detailed explanations of sub circuits and components\, without using highly technical and mathematical formulas. The course also provides explanations of basic concepts used in mineral processing on a daily basis. \nObjectives\nAfter attending this course each participant will be able to: name the major building blocks of a typical processing plant; \nexplain the process at a block diagram level; \nexplain basic concepts and principles such as: liberation\, separation\, dewatering\, S/G\, % solids\, and % passing; \nexplain each sub circuit and name its components: crushing/conveying\, grinding\, flotation\, and dewatering; \nname the major parts and explain the basic operation of all major components: crushers\, conveyors\, grinding mills\, flotation cells\, regrind circuit\, and dewatering circuit; and \nexplain basic process automation.
