SUMMARY:Mine Planning - Strategy
DESCRIPTION:This webcast introduces key mine planning concepts. The drive to exploit a mineral resource\, such that it adds as much value as possible to the mining business\, requires a continual update of the mine plan and the rapid implementation of any value adding opportunities as they arise. Planning a mining operation requires a unique approach that differs from other industries. On completion of the course\, participants will be able to recognize and use key levers in mining such as mining method selection\, process route selection\, scale of operation\, and sequence and scheduling to effectively unlock value from their mining operations. \nThis course requires participants to undertake numerous calculation based exercises to effectively demonstrate the impact of each of the key levers that will be addressed. All participants will be provided with template/pre-filled MS Excel spreadsheets to minimize time spent on data entry. Good use of Excel is therefore required.

SUMMARY:Cash Flow Evaluations for Mineral Projects and Operations
DESCRIPTION:During this two-day course\, participants will become familiar with the concepts of a cash flow and discounted cash flow (DCF)\, as well as their application to mineral projects. \nThe course is structured as an interactive working session\, in which the instructor and participants will work together to develop a working cash flow evaluation model\, step-by-step. (A laptop computer with MS Excel and a working knowledge of Excel are prerequisites for the course.) \nBy the end of the course the participants will have developed: a working cash flow model suitable for the evaluation of a new project; an understanding of DCF evaluation metrics; an understanding of discount rates and the time value of money; an evaluation of a steady-state operation; an evaluation of an expansion project; an evaluation of a cost flow to choose between several operational alternatives; and a sensitivity analysis with tables and graphs.
