Changing our look & outlook

Canadian Mining Journal Staff | September 1, 2008 | 12:00 am

With so many changes going on in the mining industry today, Canadian Mining Journal felt that it was imperative to keep pace with the times by reformatting its “Mining Matters” pages to reflect the number of issues impacting the industry on a day-to-day basis.

To start with, our designers have chosen a ‘pot pourri’ look in order to capture as many newsworthy events as possible within two pages of the magazine.

And as you can see, we have endeavoured to feature a wide variety of items of interest to the mining community.

One of the things the editors have noticed over the years about the mining companies in Canada is the amount of time and effort that is put into building and maintaining a solid image, both technically and physically. By physically we mean in terms of appearance through their offices, their vehicles, their web-sites, brochures, and annual reports but most noticeably, their logos.

Canadian mining companies, in our opinion, have some of the best logos. They’re imaginative and well designed and that’s why we’ve decided to launch a “Logo of the Month” feature

to recognize some of the creativity that lives within the Canadian mining community. Like every design, there’s subjectivity involved but we feel that this month’s logo deserves a place in “Mining Matters.”

As always, your comments about the items on these pages or any others in the magazine are welcome.

Should you wish to respond or to submit items for consideration, please contact Editor Russ Noble at rnoble@canadianminingjournal.com
