Prospectors were so busy this summer in the Yukon staking claims that the Yukon’s Department of Energy, Mines and Resources says it actually ran out of claim tags for a short period of time during the “100 days” of exploration throughout the Territory. Companies from across Canada and other countries are once again concentrating on what many call one of the hottest areas for potentially new and renewed mining in the world. One further note of interest, the Yukon Geological Survey now says that 2 x 2 stakes, not the 4 x 4s shown above, are now being accepted to help reduce the burden of transporting heavier stakes to remote sites.
