Iveco engine to power Minecat 100

Iveco Motors of North America, Inc., of Carol Stream, Ill., has formed a partnership with Sudbury, Ont.-based Industrial Fabrication to power its innovative Minecat 100 multi-purpose mining vehicle. The Minecat 100 is designed as an efficient vehicle for the underground mining industry, with minimal downtime. It seats three to 10 people and has a cargo capacity of 2,500 lb.

Iveco Motors’ NEF N45 MSS engine was chosen for the Minecat 100 because of its durability and high power rating. It is a four-cylinder diesel engine with a power rating of 99 hp at 2,300 rpm, and weighs 860 lb. This liquid-cooled engine features two valves per cylinder, a mechanical injection system and has a noise level below 92 dB(A).
