More haul trucks for Syncrude

Canadian Mining Journal Staff | April 1, 2005 | 12:00 am

Liebherr Mining Equipment Co., of Newport News, Va., will begin delivery this year of nine additional T 282 B diesel electric haul trucks to Syncrude Canada at Fort McMurray, Alta. These units are in addition to the six sold to the same client in 2003 and 2004, which are rated at 380 tons and are being used for the transport of overburden and oil sand at Syncrude’s North mine.

The trucks at Syncrude Canada have heated bodies to avoid freezing of the ore during cold weather. Powered by DDC/MTU 20 V 4000 engines rated at 3,650 hp and equipped with AC drive systems, these trucks have the largest payload capacity today. For more information see www.liebherr.com or phone 757-245-5251.
