Thermal Fragmentation Used to Recover Gold Ore

Mirabel Resources is using thermal fragmentation to extract gold from its Denain and Lac Rose underground projects near Val d’Or. The company expects to recover 2,000 oz in this manner during the last three months of this year.

The use of the thermal fragmentation process constitutes a milestone for Mirabel since it will allow the mining industry to evaluate this technology and note its performances. Mirabel plans to move forward on a continuous basis with other projects of similar type in 2005. The method is suited to narrow vein gold deposits.
