Xstrata builds multi-purpose admin centre in Ontario
Xstrata Nickel has just released a photo of its 60,000 sq ft administration and dry facility currently under construction at its Nickel Rim South Mine Site in Garson, ON.
The new building, being built by NRB Inc of Grimsby, ON, is a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).
It’s a multi-use structure that will incorporate administration, operations control and a mine dry area that is being installed in three phases. Phase I is a complete operations centre housing lunchrooms, training and team rooms, safety offices, control rooms as well as mechanical and electrical shops. Phase II is a complete men’s and women’s “dry” facility with showers and lockers and Phase III is a two-storey administration building.
The entire facility is being built from engineered structural steel framing. A total of 100 three-dimensional building modules of varying sizes make up the complex.
