John Deere Power Systems introduces its Interim Tier 4/Stage III B diesel engines featuring a 90% reduction in diesel particulate matter (PM) and a 50% reduction in nitrogen oxide (NOx) from previous Tier 3/Stage III A requirements. The engines include a cooler exhaust gas reduction (EGR) for NOx control and an added exhaust filter for reducing PM. The exhaust filter consists of a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) and a diesel particulate filter (DPF). The engines feature full-authority electronic controls, a four-valve cylinder head, a high-pressure fuel system, turbocharging, and an air-to-air aftercooling system.
