QUEBEC – Royal Nickel Corp. of Toronto has been honoured with a silver medal presented by the Quebec Occupational Health and Safety Commission (CSST) at the Les Grands Prix santé et sécurité du travail ceremony. The award recognizes innovation at a small-to-medium business for having implemented tangible projects and having a proactive approach to health and safety in the workplace.

Royal Nickel was recognized for its implementation of a weight system on a metasonic drill used during geotechnical surveying work. It reduces the exposure of workers to vibrations during drilling. The system was designed in-house and was developed jointly by staff and management.

The company 's flagship is the Dumont nickel project 25 km northwest of Amos. It could become, at 90 million lb of nickel annually, one of the largest base metal mines in Canada and one of the top five sulphide nickel producers globally. A feasibility study was completed for the project in July 2013.
