I don't recall a year end so devoid of news as this one has been. It's as if the global mining industry all went on vacation for the same two weeks - or at least the public relations and communications departments did. Aside from a couple announcements of stock market listings, I read news of only a handful of small financings completed before year end.
I won't be inventing any news that didn't happen. Too bad, too, because I would like to tell CMJ readers that the Galore Creek gold mine is going ahead or that the environmentalists have thrown their support behind the Rosia Montana gold mine. Ah wishful thinking.
