PERU - Vancouver-based PERU COPPER INC. has proved up 1.261 billion tonnes of material at Toromocho, moving the tonnage into the proven and probable category from the measured and indicated classification. The total reserve and resource estimate now stands at 1.976 billion tonnes, an increase of 143 million tonnes since the last estimate made public in mid-February.

Within the new combined reserve and resource is a central core of 1.059 billion tonnes at a grade of 0.60% Cu (0.88% CuEq using a CuEq cut-off of 0.60%). The molybdenum grade is 0.023% and there are 8.7 g/t Ag. Additional mineral reserve and resource material totals 917 million tonnes at 0.32% Cu (0.46% CuEq, based on a copper cut-off ranging from 0.27% to 0.59% Cu).

The new resource figures were part of the recently completed pre-feasibility study conducted for Peru Copper. Estimated annual production is over 600 million lb of copper and 11.9 million lb of molybdenum.
