QUEBEC NORTHERN STAR MINING of Val d'Or has filed a new 43-101-compliant report for its Midway gold project in that city. Total indicated resources are 2.44 million tonnes containing 233,294 oz of gold. The indicated resources include both gabbros (930,100 tonnes at 5.83 g/t Au) and porphyries (1.47 million tonnes at 2.40 g/t Au). There is also an inferred resource containing 572,400 tonnes of gabbros at 6.56 g/t Au and 1.5 million tonnes of porphyries at 2.40 g/t Au.

The current indicated and inferred total of 4.91 million tonnes compares favourably with historical estimates of 3.57 million tonnes containing 307,750 oz of gold.

The company noted that the gabbro and porphyry structures are open along strike and at depth. The current resource estimate is based on drilling to a vertical depth of only 365 metres. The deep hole drilled in 2006 to 1,595 metres intersected 8.95 g/t over 16 metres. The main target for underground exploration will be the gabbros.

Northern Star plans to update this 43-101 report by mid-2009 and prepare an initial economic assessment by the end of next year. Meanwhile, the decline is advancing toward a depth of 135 metres by the end of this year.
