Robert M. Friedland, chairman of IVANHOE MINES of Singapore, announced that Howard Balloch has joined the company's board of directors. Balloch has been Canadian ambassador to China, Mongolia and North Korea. A specialist on Pacific Rim nations, he helped to develop bilateral exchanges between Canada and China and led the promotion and protection of Canadian interests in China.

DRC RESOURCES of Vancouver has added Clifford J. Davis to its board. He is a graduate of the Royal School of Mines in London, U.K., and has more than 40 years of international mining experience in both operations and development. DRC is exploring and hoping to reopen the Afton copper mine in British Columbia.

W.S. TYLER and its parent company has announced the retirement of Larry Pope, from his post as president of U.S.A. Media Operations. He will officially retire on May 25, 2005, after 50 years of dedicated service to the organization. Pope began his career with W.S. Tyler's Elevator Division in Cleveland, Ohio. For the past 15 years he has managed W.S. Tyler's Particle Analysis Products Group, located in Mentor, Ohio. He has also served in executive positions, at W.S. Tyler's North Carolina and Canadian facilities.

Calgary-based NEWMEX MINERALS has welcomed A. Murray Sinclair to its board of directors. He has been managing director of Quest Capital since 2002.

TERRACO GOLD CORP. of Vancouver has named Charles Sulfrian as new VP exploration. He has an extensive background in gold exploration and operations in the United States and China. His name is associated with the discovery of the Post oxide and the Deep Post deposits at the Goldstrike mine in Nevada.

A new president has been named for Calgary-based GROUNDSTAR RESOURCES. He is Kam A. Fard. Acting president Charles M. Gryba is now VP business development, and Kenneth Chobotuk has been named VP exploration.

Toronto's INTER-CITIC MINERALS has added Stephen Laurens to its management team as VP corporate communications. He has a background in communications, business and law. His columns may be read in both the Sun Media Group and National Post newspapers.

STRATHMORE MINERALS of Vancouver has two new members of its management team. John DeJoia, with over 30 years of uranium mining experience, is VP technical services. Juan Velasquez, with his more than 30 years of uranium experience, is VP environmental and regulatory affairs.

Feisal Somji has been named to the post of president and CEO at MUSKOX MINERALS of Calgary. He will retain his duties as CFO until a replacement can be found. Also, Harry McGucken has been named the COO of Muskox. He has been on the company's board since 1997. Two resignations were announced, that of Dr. Roger Morton from the post of CEO and William Dynes from the post of VP exploration. Both men will remain on the board of directors.
