TORONTO - For his 76th birthday on Feb. 5, 2005, mining executive extraordinaire Bill James will step down from the chairmanship of INMET MINING CORP. He was appointed to the Inmet board in 1996 after a colourful career that has included leading Falconbridge and Denison. James was inducted in the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame in 2002.

With the departure of James, Richard Ross will become chairman and CEO of Inmet. To replace Ross as president, the company has chosen Jochen Tilk, currently its VP and COO.
