SASKATCHEWAN - CAMECO CORP. of Saskatoon has temporarily reduced underground activities at the Eagle Point mine, part of the Rabbit Lake operation in the northern part of the province. The slowdown occurred as the surface water-handling system was being upgraded.

The company estimates that the inflow is 40 to 50 m3/h, well within the handling capacity of the water system, except that capacity has been reduced while equipment is replaced. Water is stored in mined out areas and there is sufficient capacity to hold three months' worth at present inflow rates. The repairs to the water-handling system will be complete within the week.
