ONTARIO – Assays from levels 605 and 725 at the suspended Sleeping Giant gold mine are high grade, perhaps enough to allow owner Maudore Minerals of Montreal to consider reopening. The company says three new veins have been discovered and the high grade zones continue to expand.

Assays have been received from six targets between the 605 and 725 levels. Here are the best results from various holes at each target:

  • 30 FW vein (footwall): 39.90 g/t Au over 0.6 metres.
  • 30 Shaft Shadow zone: 109.81 g/t Au over 1.3 metres and 41.70 g/t Au over 0.8 metres.
  • 30 Ext W vein (extension west): 122.00 g/t Au over 0.62 metres, 110.00 g/t Au over 0.8 metres, and 92.80 g/t Au over 0.6 metres.
  • 20 vein: 37.70 g/t Au over 1.0 metre.
  • 8 FW zone (footwall): 15.30 g/t Au over 0.9 metres.
  • 8 zone: 27.50 g/t Au over 1.0 metre, 24.50 g/t Au over 0.9 metres, and 23.90 g/t Au over 1.0 metre.

The worst assay was 6.38 g/t over 0.9 metre from the 8 FW zone.

Maudore says the Sleeping Giant has great potential for new discoveries and extension. The 8 zone is virtually untested from the 485 level to the surface. Several previously unmined structures are also being invetigated from the 975 level.

In the meantime, remnant resources are being mined where practical and the mine plan is being revised to bring more stoping areas into production. The company says its selective mining activity is not based on a feasibility study or reserves that demonstrate technical or economic viability.
