Brokk has appointed Roy Ortega as its first dedicated service manager for Canada, marking a significant expansion of the remote-controlled demolition machine manufacturer's North American operations.

The seasoned field service professional will handle new machine startups while troubleshooting and repairing equipment for customers across the country. His appointment comes as Brokk strengthens its Canadian presence following the 2024 opening of a new Brokk and Aquajet distribution centre in Hamilton, Ontario.

The distribution centre streamlines ordering and shipping for Canadian customers, while Ortega joins a growing team of industry veterans who provide expanded in-country support and service for Brokk and Aquajet customers.

"Having a dedicated service manager in Canada is a big step forward," Lars Lindgren, president of Brokk, said. "It greatly enhances our ability to serve Canadian customers efficiently, especially when they need a Brokk technician on-site. Aftersales support is critical, and Roy understands that. He is a highly skilled and experienced mechanic who has been in the trenches and delivers."

Ortega brings more than 20 years of experience to his new role. The Red Seal Journeyman launched his career as a mechanic in the automotive, truck and rail industries before Cooper Equipment Rentals hired him as a field service technician and diesel mechanic. He recently served as District Service Manager for United Rentals, where he managed fleet operations and maintenance for six branches in the Greater Toronto Area.

His extensive background includes working with all types of heavy construction equipment, including electric equipment, and collaborating with OEMs to maintain equipment in optimal condition.
