Atlas Copco reaches ISO 14001 milestone

Canadian Mining Journal Staff | February 1, 2008 | 12:00 am

Atlas Copco Construction and Mining Canada of Lively, Ont., has reached an important milestone, its certificate of registration for the environmental management system ISO 14001:2004.

President and general manager Paul Healy said in announcing the accomplishment, “I’m very proud of all our employees. Becoming registered to ISO 14001 was a total team effort, and together we achieved our objective– smoothly and in record time. Canada is the first sales company with the Atlas Copco Group worldwide to achieve ISO 14001 certification.”

The company became ISO 9001 certified in 1999. During the last several months, the company has

hired significantly more personnel, expanded its operations within Canada, and enhanced the main facilities in Lively. Commitment to sustainable development is reflected in its environmental policy and in the way Atlas Copco does business with customers, contractors and suppliers alike.
