Cat Improves MineStar Products

Canadian Mining Journal Staff | October 1, 2004 | 12:00 am

Caterpillar‘s MineStar mining information management system has developed a reputation of combining the latest IT technologies with innovative and industry-focused functionality. At more than 20 mines around the world, MineStar delivers reliable reporting and decision-driving information. Now with the feedback of its customers, Cat has launched the latest version at the recent MINExpo in Las Vegas.

MineStar 2 performs better than its predecessor in several critical areas. The machine tracking system includes new safety procedures for pre-operation checks and record-keeping plus new personnel management functions. The database management system integrates information among all MineStar solutions such as CAESultra and Aquila. Real-time data collection, better summarization and improved customization speed reports to the user.

The MineStar suite of products includes systems for dragline monitoring, drill management, three types of computer-aided earthmoving software, machine tracking, material types and grade tracking, productivity programs, plus fleet, heath, business and infrastructure management techniques.
