Contest Winner
A ritual that marks the dawn of each year at CMJ is to determine a winner for our readership survey contest. Every person who responds to our readership survey, either by mail or using the “contest” button in our web site, www.CanadianMiningJournal. com, is entered into our draw for that year.
The name drawn out of the pot this year was Joan Pyke of Truro, N.S. She submitted her entry through our web site just two days before the end of the year, responding to the October 2001 issue. Mrs. Pyke’s prize is a 1/10-ounce Maple Leaf gold coin.
When we called to let her know she had won, she was very excited — this is only the second time in her life she has ever won anything. Her husband’s company, D.W. Pyke Trucking, hauls barium concentrate from the North River mine near Truro.
Thank you to the 91 people who entered our contest in 2001. Please respond when you receive our random questionnaires in the mail, or visit our web site to enter the contest. You could be the winner next time!
