Copper Mountain Mine is officially opened
International dignitaries and about 1700 neighbours from around the province recently attended the day-long Opening Ceremonies of Copper Mountain Mining Corporation’s Copper Mountain Mine near the Town of Princeton, B.C. The $438-million mine, with an estimated mine life of 17 years, is expected to produce 1.47 billion pounds of copper, 452,000 ounces of gold, and 4.5 million ounces of gold. At full production, the mine will employ 272 people and an indirect job creation multiplier of 4:1, or about 1,000 indirect jobs. Editor’s Note: CMJ wishes to apologize to Copper Mountain Mining Corporation for incorrectly identifying the company in the final paragraph of the Cover Story in last month’s issue.
