Diesel particulate filters for coal mine applications
Mississauga, Ont.-based Nett Technologies’ SN- and SO-series diesel particulate filters have been listed by the Mine Safety & Health Administration (MSHA) for installation in U.S. coal mine applications. The listing is an expansion of currently listed S-series filters for use in metal and non-metal mines.
Nett particulate filters utilize ceramic wall-flow monoliths to trap emissions of diesel particulate matter and offer unsurpassed filtration efficiency. They work virtually maintenance-free on most heavy-duty diesel engines in underground mine applications. SN- and SO-series filters contain an NO2 suppressant that allows these specially-catalyzed filters to be used in coal mines, and are two among only a few passive technologies listed for installation on diesel-powered mining equipment. They reduce the diesel particulate emissions by 85% and 87%, respectively. Both series are available in a range of sizes to fit applications from 20 hp to over 700 hp.
