MOU for Upper Similkameen band and Goldcliff

The Upper Similkameen Indian Band and Goldcliff Resource Corp. signed a Memorandum of Understanding agreement the end of November. The MOU is an agreement of co-operation between the band and the company, covering activity within the band’s traditional territory in the Hedley Basin of south-central B.C.

Goldcliff’s Panorama Ridge Gold Project is located within the band’s territory, and the company recognizes its obligation to consult with the band on Aboriginal interests in regard to the project. The MOU agreement provides that the parties have committed to meaningful consultation and the exchange of information in the territory.

The Upper Similkameen Indian Band has worked progressively with government, industry and the private sector to develop positive relationships in mining, forestry and tourism in their territory. The band operates the Mascot mine tours at Hedley–an historic gold mine perched high above the tiny town of Hedley (www.mascotmine.com). The Panorama Ridge project is just east of the historic gold producer, and is a new gold discovery destined to revive the gold mining glory of the district (www.goldcliff.com).
