It takes time and people to build a company
At a time when multinational corporations are being traded like hockey cards, it’s important to remember that it takes many years to build a substantial company — one with good assets, a positive culture, a good track record and reputation, and talented, loyal personnel. Every commodity cycle offers opportunities and pitfalls that have to be carefully negotiated, so the organization finishes each one a little better.
Teck Cominco is a substantial Canadian mining company that has come together over a century, through the efforts and brilliance of generations of scientists and technicians, tradespeople and operators, businessmen and professionals. We devote this issue to a celebration of the tens of thousands of people who have built the company and its predecessors, and in doing so, have contributed to many of the best practices in the mining industry today.
