1993– Kinross formed from merger of three companies, with initial capital of Cdn$14 million. June–bought DeLamar mine and Candelaria mine in western U.S. from Nerco. September–bought 56% control block of Falconbridge Gold (Hoyle Pond mine, Bell Creek mill, Blanket and Golden Kopje mines)
1994 — reserves at Hoyle Pond increased 661%
1995 –increased interest in Denton-Rawhide mine to 50%; purchased Macassa mine in Kirkland Lake, Ont.; purchased interest in first Russian project, Aginskoe
1998 –acquired Amax Gold on June 1 (Fort Knox mine, Kubaka mine, Refugio mine)
1999 –acquired Timmins assets of Royal Oak Mines (Pamour mine)
2000 –sold non-core assets to Dayton and became 33% owner of Dayton
2001 — sold Macassa mine, Candelaria mine
2002 — July 1–formed Porcupine JV with Placer Dome (includes Dome, Hoyle Pond, Pamour, Nighthawk Lake, Bell Creek)
2003 –Jan. 31–acquired Echo Bay, TVX and TVX Newmont Americas; March–increased ownership of Omolon (Kubaka operator) to 98.1%
