Made-to-order loadpins: the economic choice

Canadian Mining Journal Staff | April 1, 2005 | 12:00 am

Load-measuring pins are versatile force sensors or strain-gauge-based transducers used to measure load, overload or tension conditions. The versatility of loadpins allows the engineering team at Saskatoon-based Massload Technologies to develop them according to specific customer needs. The option of custom-made loadpins eliminates the need for costly adjustments to fit industry standard loadcells into existing equipment.

Loadpins can be used for any application in which the force and weight measurement needs to be known. They are also used for analysis, weight on bit for measurement while drilling, weight on leg and centre of gravity for jack up drilling rigs, and tendon stress measurement for tension leg platforms.

Massload’s loadpins are accurate to more than 1%, constructed of alloy or stainless steel and environmentally protected to IP67. Each loadpin is machined, heat-treated and tested in a batch of strenuous tests that ensures the cell will have a long and accurate life.

Massload is a privately-owned company that has produced weighing technology since 1981. For more information contact CEO Bill Elliott, bill@massload.com, or phone 800-667-3825 or visit www.massload.com.
