In conjunction with a restructuring, Geomaque Exploration Ltd. of Toronto has appointed a new board of directors and senior management team. John W. Hick is president and CEO and joins the board. Hick has held senior positions with a number of mining companies. Mario Caron is vice-president, operations and also becomes a member of the board. Caron, a mining engineer, was vice-president of PriceWaterhouse Coopers Securities Inc. and a former president of Eden Roc Mineral Corp. Gordon Bogden and Bruce Higson-Smith will also join the board of directors.
Tyler Resources Inc. of Calgary has appointed Jean-Pierre Jutras, P.Geol., as president and COO as well as a new member of its board of directors. He has been actively employed in the exploration industry in the last decade in nine countries and has served as interim president of Tyler since June 2001. The company also welcomes Regan Chernish, P.Geol., as vice-president of exploration. Chernish has worked in the Northwest Territories over the last 10 years, as a consultant for Covello Bryan & Assoc. and as project geologist for Diavik Diamond Mines Inc. from 1997 to 2001. James Devonshire has been appointed chairman and CEO.
Nelson Baker, P.Eng., has joined Boulder Mining Corp. of Toronto as vice-president – exploration and will be nominated to join the board of directors at the next meeting. Baker has over 33 years of experience in all facets of the mining business. John Magee, a director, assumes the position of vice-president – corporate development.
Golden Goose Resources Inc. of Montreal has appointed Jean Depatie as a director of the company. Depatie is president and CEO of Gold Hawk Resources Inc. and a director of a number of mining companies. John R. Macklem, already a director, has been appointed vice-president, finance and assistant secretary, and David Johnston of Pouliot Mercure, attorneys, to the position of secretary.
George Stevens, Q.C., has rejoined Lang Michener, one of Canada’s leading business law firms, as associate counsel in the firm’s Vancouver office. Stevens led Lang Michener’s corporate finance group in Vancouver for 20 years prior to joining Teck Corp. as vice-president, corporate affairs in 1993. He retired from Teck in 2001.
Explorers Alliance Corp. of Toronto has appointed Ralph Dalgarno, Brian Murray and Lewis Taylor to the board of directors to fill the vacancies created by the resignations from the board of John Harvey, Peter Crossgrove and Brian Murray. Peter Martini, Garry Stein, W. Stearns Vaughan and Michael Zurowski have also resigned as directors. Stein has resigned as an officer of the company, but has agreed to assist the company in its continuing financing efforts.
Steve Anderson and Don McKinnon Jr. have been appointed as directors of Toronto-based Liberty Mineral Exploration Inc. They are both seasoned explorationists and principals of Vision Exploration in the Timmins mining camp. Geddes M. Webster has resigned as a director of Liberty but remains as a special advisor to the company.
Ruben Ornstein has been appointed as CFO of the Boliden Group, now based in Stockholm. Ornstein has solid experience in dealing with financial issues in senior positions including the ABB Group. Marianne Lindholm has been appointed as new legal counsel of the Boliden Group. She comes from positions as legal counsel at AssiDoman and Sandvik.
