Blue Note Metals of Montreal has hired Chris Zahovskis as VP operations, initially to oversee the company’s Caribou zinc project in New Brunswick. As well the company has hired Paul Laframboise as mill manager and Denis Doucet as general manager at Caribou.
Fieldex Exploration of Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec, has named Ike Osmani its VP exploration. Vancouver-based Finning International has two executive changes. Juan Carlos Villegas, currently VP power systems for Finning (Canada), has been appointed president of Finning South America. Brian Bell, current president of Finning South America, will assume the role of executive VP of corporate strategy and customer solutions for Finning International.
First Nickel Inc. has appointed board member William Anderson as president and CEO to replace Elizabeth Kirkwood. Anderson, a co-founder of First Nickel, is the president of MPH Consulting. First Nickel is eliminating the position of COO to coincide with the departure of John Haflidson. Lynda Bloom has resigned her position on the board of directors.
Yani Roditis has been promoted to COO at Gabriel Resources of Toronto. He resides in Romania where the company is advancing its Rosia Montana gold project.
The new president and COO of Vancouver’s Gold Hawk Resources is Kevin Drover.
Jinshan Gold Mines of Vancouver has appointed Calvin McKee as COO as well as CSH 217 general manager.
The Mining Association of Canada, headquartered in Ottawa, has chosen Falconbridge CEO Derek Pannell its new chairman. He succeeds Inmet’s Richard Ross.
Niogold Mining of Val d’Or, Quebec, has named Jean Lafleur its new chairman following the resignation of former chairman Arden “Buck” Morrow who remains on the board.
Norsemont Mining of Vancouver has hired Robert Baxter as president and a member of the board. He also becomes general manager of Norsemont Peru SAC.
Linda Thorstad has been named president and CEO of Vancouver-based Oremex Resources.
The new chairman of Toronto-based Orvana Minerals is Susan McArthur. Malcolm King will become president and CEO on an interim basis. Pine Valley Mining of Vancouver has named Bob Bell its new president and CEO. He moves up from his position as executive VP and COO to replace Graham Mackenzie, who has resigned.
Rampart Ventures of Vancouver has appointed Dr. Hikmet Akin as its president. He was president and CEO of the original Uranerz Group of companies before its sale to Cameco Corp.
Redhawk Resources of Vancouver has announced several additions to its executive team. Charles G. Pitcher has been elected non-executive chairman, Bruce M. Briggs is president, and R. Joe Sandberg has become VP development for Copper Creek. The three men and Steven Bastable have also been elected directors of the company.
Reuben Brant has been appointed as chairman of Toronto-based Win-Eldrich Mines and Perry D. Muller, a director of the company, has succeeded Brant as president.
Raymond Mah, formerly of Placer Dome, has joined Vancouver’s Yukon Zinc Corp. as its COO.
