Preventing equipment freeze-ups

Canadian Mining Journal Staff | September 1, 2007 | 12:00 am

Most outdoor workers have experienced air tool, air hoist, cylinder and pneumatic valve freeze-ups in the harsh Canadian winters. Polar-Lube offers an easy solution to prevent equipment freeze-ups to -50C. Even at 5C, air equipment in unheated areas can begin to go solid. Polar-Lube, manufactured in Canada by Alex Milne Associates Ltd. (a company partly owned by the Ontario government), instantly absorbs the excess moisture in the airline to prevent freeze-ups, and can be added in the tool inlet to unfreeze equipment.

This unique product is well proven in the pipeline, mining, and forestry industries as well as pulp & paper mills, feed mills, steel companies, construction, cold storage, farming and the military. It suits all manufacturers’ pneumatic lubricators and will not affect polycarbonate bowls or sight glass. Polar-Lube is biodegradable, carrying an Enviro Check Global environmental logo and the OccUsafe rating for safer, healthier worker use.

Polar-Lube is available in 1-, 4- and 205-litre sizes through leading pneumatic distributors across Canada, or in the U.S.A. through Roessel & Company Inc. For more information see www.alexmilne.com.
