The VR laboratory can help viewers understand complicated geometry. In one case, mine planners designed access to a stope based on their understanding of the existing excavation and the ore definition. When they brought the plan into the VR lab and put it into the 3-D mine model, they suddenly realized there was another, better direction to access the stope from a different location with an easier, shorter distance. The design was modified, and the cost saving from this discovery was equivalent to the cost of establishing the lab.
