Research and Event News: : Montral Symposium on the Major Challenges in Tailings Dams
On June 15, 2003, professionals from the international dam and mining community will spend a full day discussing the operational, maintenance and environmental aspects of tailings dams. Organized by CIGB-ICOLD Montral 2003, in collaboration with The Mining Association of Canada and the Canadian Geotechnical Society, this international symposium will precede the 21st Congress of the ICOLD, which will run from June 16 to 20, 2003.
The symposium at the Palais des congrs de Montral will give specialists an opportunity to debate technical questions on water quality, sedimentation and design control practices, with the focus on concerns about risk management and emissions from contaminants. It will be an occasion for informing the community of experts on issues related to tailings dams, as well as a forum for the exchange of ideas.
Discussions will be in English and French; simultaneous translation will be available. For more information visit www.cigb-icold.org.
