SGS acquires Geostat Systems
Geneva, Switzerland-based SGS has acquired Geostat Systems International Inc. of Montreal, Que. Founded in 1981, Geostat is a industry leader specializing in geostatistics, orebody modeling, resource estimation, exploration, prefeasibility, production and reclamation stage services. Its technical expertise will be integrated with that of SGS Minerals Services. Geostat generated revenues in excess of $1.7 million in 2007 and has 13 employees and external consultants.
This acquisition strengthens SGS’s orebody modeling capabilities for geometallurgical applications, and adds resource estimation to the company’s broad range of services to mining sector clients. SGS is the global leader in inspection, verification, testing and certification services. Founded in 1878, SGS has over 50,000 employees, and operates a network of over 1,000 offices and laboratories around the world.
