Vena recognized as best company
Toronto-based Vena Resources has won an award as the Best Mining Exploration Company in Peru for 2006. The award was made on July 6 by a Peruvian non-profit organization that makes awards for leadership, social responsibility and efficient management in several industries.
As part of its social responsibility mandate and due to the unusually cold weather in the Andes Mountains, Vena is currently providing winter clothing to pre-school and elementary school students in several communities, blankets to the families, computer equipment to the community of Corani as well as infrastructure support efforts around three lakes in the Corani area. In addition, Vena recently completed a very successful medical campaign in the communities surrounding the Azulcocha zinc mine. Ten medical doctors and dentists participated in the campaign providing medical support to 300 inhabitants including 120 children of nearby communities.
Vena is re-exploring Azulcocha, a former zinc-antimony mine 260 km east of Lima.
