The Wheaton River story
If you like reading recent histories of gold companies, and you know the 20 key players in the Wheaton River -Goldcorp saga, you may be interested in a recently published tribute book, Out of Nowhere: The Wheaton River story. Goldcorp’s chair, Ian Telfer, commissioned a private publisher to interview the major players and use their words to tell the story that began to unfold in early 2001.
In just under six years, based on Frank Guistra’s prediction of where gold was heading, Telfer and his team built the world’s second largest gold company, with a market capitalization of more than US$24 billion.
The innovative design of the oversize-format book includes short quotes arranged chronologically with wicked illustrations and cartoons, separated by big pull quotes, and lots of fonts. The design lends itself to the story: the emphasis is on big.
Proceeds from the sale of this book will go to a charity.
