The Wolverine mine requires a huge fleet of machines
The Wolverine drill and blast operation utilises a total of 57 large machines. This number includes drills, loading equipment, haul trucks and support dozers. The drill operation is spearheaded by two D90K drills and two SKS12 drills. A DML and DMM3 round out the drills.
A P&H 2800 XP and a Hitachi EX5500, front shovels with buckets in the 30 to 32 cubic metre range lead the loading equipment. They are supported by a Hitachi EX3600 and a Komatsu PC4000, both in face shovel configuration in the 26 cubic metre ranges. Other loader gear are Komatsu PC3000 (2) and smaller Caterpillar equipment – all in back-hoe configuration, a LeTourneau Lt1350 and three Caterpillar 992 G loaders.
The haul truck fleet is made up of 20 caterpillar trucks – eight 793Fs, eight 789Cs and four 785Cs (100 metric tonnes). There are also four Komatsu HD1500s for a total of 24 trucks. Capacities range from 218 metric tonnes to 100.
Main support equipment includes a fleet of 13 crawler tractors (dozers) made up of 10 Caterpillar D10Ts, one Caterpillar D10N and two Komatsu D375.
Service type equipment including water, rock ejector trucks, fuel, lubrication and service trucks; low-boy miscellaneous loaders total up to another forty pieces.
