BATHURST, New Brunswick Mining giant NORANDA and tiny SLAM EXPLORATION of Miramichi, N.B., have created a joint venture to explore 48,480 hectares in the Bathurst mining camp. The area covers 2,911 claims owned by Noranda and 129 claims owned by Slam.
The partners anticipate spending $25 million over the next five years. Slam will contribute up to $12.5 million to earn a 50% interest. Noranda, which operates the nearby Brunswick lead and zinc mine, will be operator of the project. For more on Noranda’s zinc business, go to www.noranda.com.
Besides the Bathurst joint venture, Slam has prospects in the Uchi subprovince of Ontario. Its website is www.slamexploration.com.
