OTTAWA, Ontario INSTANTEL, well known for its blast monitoring systems, has discontinued the VODmate velocity of detonation recorder product line, effective immediately. Instead, the company is focusing its efforts on further enhancements to its Blastmate and Minimate line of vibration monitors.

"The next few years are going to be very exciting for Instantel customers. We are going to take vibration monitoring technology to a new level, and we recognized the need to focus all our efforts on achieving this goal," says Rob Lee, Instantel's business manager.

In planning for the retirement of the VODmate product line, Instantel realized that an alternate source for consumables, like measuring cable and rods, was essential to ensure that the transition was seamless for existing VODmate recorder users. An agreement has been reached with MREL Specialty Explosive Products Limited (www.mrel.com), a recognized leader in velocity of detonation measurement and analysis equipment, to provide continued access to these products.
