OTTAWA - Following the recent federal election, Conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper has asked Gary Lunn to be the federal Minister of Natural Resources. His Parliamentary experience includes Critic for several portfolios including Northern Development. He has also served on several standing committees, notably Fisheries & Oceans.

Lunn (born in 1957) was first elected to the House of Commons in 1997 and represents the riding of Saanich-Gulf Islands (British Columbia). He graduated from the University of Victoria with a Bachelor of Law. He has worked as a construction superintendent at mines in British Columbia and the Northwest Territories and as a safety officer in the forestry industry. He resides in Sidney, B.C., with his wife and two children.
