BRITISH COLUMBIA Last October, CLINE MINING CORP. of Sudbury acquired the Sage Creek metallurgical coal project near Fernie, and Montana residents were instantly hostile to development. They say that they successfully shot down development proposals 20 years ago by then-owner RIO ALGOM. Opponents claim a Sage Creek coal mine would irreparably harm the wilderness of Glacier National Park, which spans the Canada-US border.

On June 10, 2004, the Canadian Press reported on www.BusinessEdge.ca that Cline's mining claim had been cancelled by the British Columbia government. The news came from BC Energy & Mines Minister Richard Neufeldt. Cline has not yet commented.
